Abbott Could Be A Major Boost For Texas Republicans This Fall

There has been a lot of talk about the Texas Senate race, but very little focus put on the governor’s race. Incumbent Republican Greg Abbott is seeking a fourth term as governor, running against Democrat Gina Hinojosa, who currently holds a seat in the Texas House of Representatives.

Her chances of victory seem slim to say the least, with the RealClearPolitics polling average showing her over 4 points behind Abbott, and betting markets like Kalshi and Polymarket showing Abbott with between an 80-90% chance of victory.

Despite this strong lead in the race, Abbott has been very active this campaign cycle, something Bexar County GOP Vice-Chair Kyle Sinclair praised, saying: “Governor Abbott is a great leader. He’s up for election this time, so he’s campaigning really great. He works hard on getting out to the communities, and he’s also a great fundraiser.”

His skill as a fundraiser is already starting to show results in Abbott’s race against Hinojosa. “She’s severely outraised. He’s got tens of millions of dollars to her about $3 million of cash on hand, and for the Democrats that [money] is their only hope.”

Sinclair believes Abbott’s aggressive campaigning this cycle is really going to show the most results down ballot, and added that it could be a sign of Abbott’s confidence in the Texas GOP’s ability to gain some ground in blue enclaves like Harris, Travis, and Dallas counties.
