Vice President J.D. Vance spoke today at a factory in Middletown, Ohio, and highlighted the comeback of American manufacturing, which has been a key priority for the Trump administration.
Vance paid special homage during the speech to his grandfather, who worked at the very factory where he spoke. He said: “Papaw was a welder in this place for 40 years — and today, his grandson stands here as the Vice President of these United States.”
Vance also announced a major set of upgrades to the factory, which will be thanks to a new $1 billion investment that Cleveland-Cliffs will be making.
He says this is all just the latest in a massive 18-month-long explosion in American industry. He highlighted the fact that since the start of the second Trump administration there have been trillions of dollars worth of new investments in everything from new mills to new manufacturing facilities across the United States.
