US Conducts More Strikes on Iran

Reciprocal fighting along the Strait of Hormuz continued well into the night Sunday, with the United States walloping Iranian facilities while Iran hit US allies Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain.

The nations along the strait that were bombed expressed outrage, with Qatar described the attacks as a "dangerous escalation" by Iran.

The Kuwaiti army said a "hostile drone" attack on an offshore drilling platform had injured an employee.

Despite the continued fighting, the price of oil is up only modestly, about 3-4% to around $73 a barrel for WTI, $79 a barrel for Brent crude.

The latest fighting began last week when Iran fired shots at merchant vessels trying to travel through the Strait of Hormuz.

A Cyprus-flagged containership’s engine room was reportedly damaged by the attack and caught fire, according to US military officials.

One civilian crew member on board the Cyprus ship is missing, while the rest evacuated and have been rescued.

The ship was hit with both a missile and drones, one US official said.
