President Trump Calling Out Democrats On Affordability

We’re finally heading into general election territory, and the Democrats are already preparing their narrative for the next couple of months. Unsurprisingly, they’ve doubled down on affordability talk. Given the recent sharp rise in oil and gas prices due to the war in Iran, they’ve got plenty of material to work with.

Unfortunately for the Democrats, that might not pan out long-term. With Iran seemingly drawing closer and closer to giving in to President Trump, and a deal reportedly on the verge of being signed, prices have already begun to fall back down.

President Trump is also calling out the Democrat talking points as insincere. In a recent press conference, he called out the Democratic Party’s record on affordability, saying: “The Democrats had the highest [prices/inflation] in the history of the country—48 years, they say—but when I inherited it [the presidency], I inherited very high prices.”

He’s also talking up his own record on prices, which will likely continue to fall thanks to recent actions aimed at cutting regulations. He recently cut back EPA regulations affecting refrigerants that required more costly and less effective refrigerants to be used. That, in turn, led to higher grocery prices and higher costs for anyone who uses an AC unit to cool their homes.

During a press conference announcing the cutting of the regulations, the President said: “Thanks to today’s reforms, the American people will have lower grocery prices, cheaper transportation of goods, and lower costs for air conditioning.”

Assuming these reforms take effect in time and a deal with Iran does come through, the Democrats might not have much at all to run on come November.
