Trump Warns Iran as U.S. Pauses Planned Military Action

President Trump says the U.S. is delaying possible military action against Iran for a few days as negotiations continue over Tehran’s nuclear program.

Trump warned Monday that “the clock is ticking” and said Iran must agree to a deal that prevents it from obtaining nuclear weapons.

Gulf allies including Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates reportedly asked the White House to hold off on planned strikes while diplomacy continues.

Iran’s president insists talks with Washington do not amount to surrender, while Iranian military leaders warned the U.S. against what they called a “strategic miscalculation.” President Trump is expected to meet with national security advisers Tuesday to discuss possible next steps if negotiations fail.
