The White House is preparing for another high-stakes Situation Room meeting as tensions with Iran continue to escalate. President Trump is expected to meet Tuesday with his top advisers to review possible military options after calling Iran’s latest response to U.S. demands “totally unacceptable” and warning that “the clock is ticking.”
The growing conflict is already shaking global markets. Oil prices jumped after drone attacks near a nuclear power plant in the UAE and new concerns about threats to shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
Military activity across the region involving Iran, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and U.S. forces has raised fears that the situation could spread fast.
At the same time, U.S. forces say they’ve redirected dozens of ships during a blockade connected to Iranian ports. Iranian officials are now threatening American bases in the Persian Gulf as diplomats and world leaders scramble to prevent the standoff from turning into a much larger war.
