WHCD Suspect Officially Charged

Cole Thomas Allen, the man believed to have attempted to assassinate President Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner last weekend, has officially been arraigned in federal court.

Allen has been charged with two gun charges, as well as a separate charge of attempting to assassinate the President of the United States.

He is accused of bringing multiple firearms—including a 12-gauge shotgun and a .38-caliber pistol—along with multiple knives to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where he allegedly shot one Secret Service agent before being neutralized by law enforcement.

Allen has not yet entered a plea but could face life in prison if convicted. He will next appear in court on April 30 for a detention hearing. A preliminary hearing was also scheduled for May 11.
