The Democrats have loudly condemned President Trump for taking military action in Iran. This might not be particularly shocking at first, but when you consider what the Democrats were saying about Iran just a few years ago, things stop adding up.
As recently as 2022, Jen Psaki, while serving in her capacity as then-White House press secretary, said: “Iran is rapidly accelerating its nuclear program and reducing cooperation with international inspectors. Their breakout period is down from about a year to just a few weeks.”
With comments like that on the record, you’d think Psaki would strongly support President Trump using our military to eliminate their nuclear capacity entirely. But Psaki, along with most other Democrats, has failed to come out in support of Trump’s actions. Many leftists still outright condemn them.
So why do we appear to be getting this doublespeak from the left on this issue? According to national security expert Ed Turzanski, the simple answer is they don’t like Trump. “Anything Donald Trump proposes, they reflexively oppose,” he said. “They favor politics over national security, and it’s a shame.”
Turzanski went on to say that this back-and-forth from the political left in America is making things difficult for our allies. “Now when you do get a change in government, it’s very likely that you’re going to get whipsawed. Policy changes 180 degrees,” he said.
He went on to say that in years past, politics used to end at the water’s edge. But now, even complex international issues are just political weapons for the left.
