Iran Reimposes Restrictions on Strait of Hormuz Warns Will Block Transit

Iran announced it will reimpose restrictions on the Strait of Hormuz, reversing its decision to reopen the waterway after President Trump said the move will not end the US blockade, according to the Associated Press.

Iran’s Joint Military Command saying “control of the Strait of Hormuz has returned to its previous state, under strict management and control of the armed forces,” adding the restrictions will not be lifted as long as the US continues to block Iranian ports.

The news comes a few hours after Trump said the blockade “will remain in full force” until a deal is reached between Tehran and the US.

Earlier this week, the Whitehouse announced it would resume talks Saturday but there is no word any US official is travelling to Pakistan today.

Trump says he is giving Iran until Wednesday to reach a permanent peace agreement.
