First it was Houston City Council, and now today Harris County Commissioners are going to discuss what kind of anti-ICE policy that they can come up with for the county.
"We know that the proposal, however it ends up being worded, has been proposed by Precinct One Commissioner Rodney Ellis, who of course is a progressive Democrat" said Holly Hansen, senior reporter with The Texan.
But all of the talk about the anti-discussion, was before what went down with the Houston City Council, which violated it's agreement with the Governor's office, prompting Abbott to withdraw $110 million in public safety grants.
"His proposal will be very likely supported by Commissioner's Adrian Garcia and Lesley Briones, also who are Democrats" Hansen told KTRH, "However, you might see them express some caution, based on the possible consequences for the County."
Commissioner Ellis said in a statement, quote: “The job of any elected official — whether you're in county, city, state, or federal office — is to ask what we can do, within the law, to keep the people we serve safe". But they never mention the safety of the victims of illegal alien criminals, case in point the tragic murder of Jocelyn Nungaray.
"The question is, do the Democrats who are pushing these policies, want to force some sort of legal battle over this issue" noted Hansen.
Precinct 3 Commissioner, and lone Republican, has already spoken out against the anti-ICE policies.
The other question is, will outgoing Judge Lina Hidalgo show up for the meeting, after missing the last three?
