After 21 hours of attempted negotiations has failed, President Trump isn’t going to wait for Iran to fully block the Strait of Hormuz or to continue acting as a “pirate” over the world’s global commerce.
“Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump said in a post on Truth social.
The waterway is responsible for 20 percent of global oil and would have significant impacts on the global economy if closed.
