Before we get to the midterms in November, the Democrats in the purple Commonwealth of Virginia are showing just how radical they really are in their fight over gerrymandering.
Voters will decide on April 21st, whether to allow lawmakers to create a new congressional map before the midterms, that would give Democrats 10 of the 11 seats. The twist is, that Virginia already has a voter approved constitutional amendment to keep partisanship out of redistricting.
"It shows how serious, and how desperate they are to win Congress in the midterms" said Aaron Evans, president of Winning Republican Strategies, who is also a Virginia resident.
"They're very serious about winning at all costs" Evans told KTRH. Some would even say that the Dems are 'hellbent' on winning. Hopefully the GOP is as well.
"Virginia is not California, I live here and it's a moderate purple state" noted Evans, "We've got a real shot of defeating this, but if we lose it's going to be because Democrats invested big, and Republicans kept their hands in their pockets."
The good news is, Republicans just added $9 million more dollars to fight the amendment.
But what a far cry from all of the criticism that Texas received for it's long overdue redistricting map, last year.
