House GOP Appears to Cave On Senate Backed Funding Plan

Congress Continues To Work Towards Deal To Fund DHS

House Republicans are now expected to support a previously passed and rejected DHS funding bill that doesn’t include funding for ICE and CBP.

The bill was sent down to the lower chamber following a voice vote early this morning and now appears to have the backing of President Trump.

Republicans are expected to then go back and fund ICE and CBP for a full three years through a reconciliation package that would not require any Democrat votes.

It’s unclear when the Senate-passed funding bill might make its way to President Trump’s desk, because House Republicans aren’t set to return to work until April 13.

Trump could hypothetically call House Republicans back to work early, though he hasn’t indicated whether or not he would yet.

It's also worth nothing that the bill that passed did not include any of the reform demands that Democrats had made.
