Texas Democrats seem to once again be very confident in their chances during the 2026 midterm elections. As such, a number of Democrat groups—including the Texas Democratic Party and Beto O’Rourke’s Powered by People—are planning to spend around $30 million on Democrat candidates.
The big question now is how much that investment will actually pay off. Republicans are predicting the chances are slim. Former GOP congressional candidate Kyle Sinclair explained: “Texas is a conservative state, and under President Trump in 2024 became even more conservative.”
Sinclair pointed out that in the November 2024 election, Texas shifted 13 points farther to the Republicans and says a flip to blue isn’t likely. “The reality is, $30 million for 29 million people in the second-largest state is a drop in the bucket, and it’s not gonna do them well,” he said.
He did, however, warn Republicans against becoming complacent during this election cycle. “As long as Republicans show up and get out to the polls, I think we’ll be okay,” Sinclair said. He advised leaders in the GOP to “act like they’re going to lose” in order to get voters out.
