CenterPoint, Entergy Texas Working to Restore Power

Crews are making headway from almost 30,000 homes without power- down to almost 1500 homes without power.

Centerpoint officials say 98 percent of their 3 million customers were not impacted.

Saturday night- crews across the city worked to reconnect electrical power to as many as 56,000 CenterPoint customers in the Houston area.

Severe thunderstorms moved through the area from the north during the evening hours, bringing potentially damaging strong winds and rain, lightning, thunder, and hail in some areas.

Just as the storms moved south of Harris County and into Galveston County, the number of CenterPoint customers without power numbered about 28,000. but a couple of hours later the company said it was reconnecting electricity fairly quickly because the damages weren't too extensive.

The number of customers without power totaled 16,000 just a couple of hours after the storms moved out of Houston.

Entergy Texas also reported up to 200 customers without power around the storms, with most of the Houston area outages along I-45 north and the corridor along 69-the Eastex Freeway northeast of Houston.
