Two George Soros-backed district attorneys here in Texas—Austin’s José Garza and Dallas’s John Creuzot—have been announced as founding members of a new national effort aimed at resisting federal immigration enforcement. It’s being called “The Fight Against Federal Overreach.”

According to a press release from the new organization, they plan to meet in February to “share strategies for pushing back against the lawless actions of federal forces.”

The involvement of Texas district attorneys in this new effort has ruffled some feathers—particularly among Republicans, who have been working to rein in rogue radical district attorneys.

One such Republican is State Representative Brian Harrison, who called out the failures of these district attorneys to handle their primary duty of fighting crime. “These are the exact same rogue DAs that are ignoring state laws designed to keep Texans safe from violent repeat offenders,” he said.

Harrison worked during the last legislative session on House Bill 17, which allows courts to remove DAs from office if they fail to prosecute certain crimes—but says it’s now clear that the law didn’t go far enough.

He called for more action from the legislature on this issue: “We should have oversight hearings on this issue right now because the law that we passed clearly is not doing enough. I’m not aware of any DA that’s been removed as a result of that law.”

Harrison also says the use of their positions as district attorneys to push for open borders is an abuse of their office—and it needs to be stopped.
