The death of a Texas A&M student who fell from the 17th floor of an apartment building in Austin last weekend has been ruled a suicide by the Austin Police Department.
The 19-year-old, Brianna Aguilera, had previously prompted her parents to retain a lawyer to investigate her death, as they did not believe it could have been a suicide.
According to police, Brianna became intoxicated at an A&M/UT tailgate party she attended from 4 to 10 p.m. on Friday evening and was asked to leave.
Around 11:00 p.m. that night, footage from the apartment building where she was staying with friends shows her entering a unit on the 17th floor.
According to investigators, Brianna had called an out-of-town boyfriend using a friend’s phone, and she could be heard arguing with him.
A review of Brianna’s phone turned up a deleted suicide note dated November 25, along with other evidence of suicidal ideation.
