Supreme Court Blocks Lower Court Injunction Of Texas Redistricting Maps

It only took about one hour after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's appeal for the Supreme Court of the United States to issue an emergency ruling on the Texas redistricting maps.

SCOTUS on Friday evening issued a temporary block of the federal court ruling this week, which halted the implementation of the new maps.

The three-judge panel in El Pason ruled this week the maps were "racially gerrymandered," and issued a preliminary injunction to block them.

AG Ken Paxton on Friday evening formally filed an appeal with the Supreme Court, only needing about an hour before the lower court ruling was blocked by the justices.

The court issued the block to allow time to review the case. No timetable for when they will rule on the issue.
