Some local parents are still on edge, after an AI generated photo went out showing a fake fire at Bellaire High School.
"I "My reaction is, I didn't even think of this" said Texas based law enforcement expert, Catherine Torrez, "I am very, very concerned that this will be the new norm, like it was back in the day when kids would call in bomb threats."
The high school was evacuated after the fire alarm went off, and when the fake photo with the fire began circulating, panic and chaos kicked in.
"If they do a threat like this, you find out that they're going to file charges when they find out who did it" Torrez told KTRH, "It's definitely creating havoc and pandemonium."
And it's something that needs to stop.
"These kids who are so intelligent with tech nowadays, it's basically the same thing as yelling fire in a crowd" noted Torrez, "There's a lot of things that the schools are going to have to look into on how to manage this."
A new law went into effect in Texas in September, that forbids students from using phones during class time, and that meant that a lot of parents who were concerned about the fake images couldn’t get a hold of their kids.
