For all intents and purposes, late-night talk shows are dead in America. They have gone from the days of actual jokes and entertainment to becoming an anti-Trump and anti-Republican bash fest. All with jokes that are not even funny, as they push their liberal agenda on viewers. It is no secret this is what they have been doing, and a lot of the shows, like Stephen Colbert's, have paid the price.
So, it is no surprise that as we head into Election Day, studies have shown those late night "comedy" shows have once again gone all-in on supporting full-blown socialism. Not anyone else's words. Those were the words of New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, who described himself as such publicly. Studies have found that the late-night shows are attacking Mamdani's rivals 95-percent of the time. If that is not bias, you need glasses or a brain.
Nick Fondacaro of Newsbusters says this lopsided effort is a prime example of why late-night television has become largely irrelevant and pointless.
"It shows these shows are catered to the liberal audiences of New York city, and not the broader viewing public," he says.
This is nothing new, it has been going on a very long time. Colbert has always been a liberal thumping Democrat, as has Jimmy Kimmel. Though surprisingly, Kimmel did not make as many Mamdani opponent jokes. Mostly due to the fact his show is based in Los Angeles, and he has no finger on the pulse of New York politics.
But the others do and that is why they push the narrative.
"In the jokes...Colbert was 27 to 1...Seth Meyers was 20 to 0...the Daily Show was 8 to 0...Jimmy Fallon, who was the most balances, was 3 to 2...and he was poking fun at Mamdani's age," says Fondacaro. "It is an example of these late-night shows pushing a political agenda."
Colbert had one Mamdani joke in June. Where he basically said he is a democratic socialist who promised to freeze rent. Colbert said "Sorry, no. Sorry, New Yorkers know there's no such thing as a free ride. People come from all over the world to this city just to pay $3 to sit next to that mystery puddle."
That is not only not even a great joke, but also the only Mamdani joke he made. It does nothing to paint him negatively, as they have with current mayor Eric Adams, and candidates Andrew Curomo and Curtis Sliwa.
All of it is not surprising, and it is because they hate anyone who is not far enough to the Left.
"They like this guy and want to see the further Left policies enacted...as opposed to people like Adams and Cuomo who represent that old guard Democrat," Fondacaro says.
He adds this is why these shows are hemorrhaging not only viewers, but money as well.
