The Texas Education Agency is set to take over control of the Fort Worth Independent School District, according to a letter from TEA Commissioner Mike Morath.

Morath reportedly told members of the Forth Worth ISD board of Trustees that he has ordered the appointment of a new board of managers, and conservator to manage the district and it's finances.

This follows a school in the district received their fifth unacceptable academic accountability rating for the 2022-2023 school year. This obligated Morath to take action against the District.

Morath said in a press conference following the announcement of the takeover, "We are committed to ensuring that we have the best set of system, leaders, school leaders in the country and Fort Worth to give kids what they morally deserve in terms of a loving and rigorous learning environment."
