The Charlie Kirk assassination outrages pretty much anyone with any sense of not just empathy, but common sense. HIs assassination not only sent up a huge flare that the Left is insanely violent, but that being a political moderate can get you murdered in cold blood. All because Charlie preached his views, encouraging dissent and debate.
But in the wake of his assassination, there has been some good come. Turning Point USA has seen a surge in new chapters and members, and now, the pro-life group 40 Days for Life says they have seen a big uptick in volunteers after Charlie's murder. In fact, they have seen a jump of about 36-percent since that time and growing every day.
President of 40 Days for Life Shawn Carney says abortion was always a huge part of Charlie's message, and his abilities to calmly debate helped spark this movement.
"He was real and authentic...and young people in an age of media were able to see who is disingenuous and who is not...Charlie was open and he was honest," he says.
That was Charlie's mission. It was not to change your mind, it was not to impart some form of brainwashing on the youth, as the Left desperately wants to claim. There were plenty of times dissenting views outmatched him. Which he accepted with grace. That authenticity is what brought so many people to listen to him.
"Charlie was approachable...and you have to be on the abortion issue...you cannot just go in and yell, and say you'll burn in hell," says Carney. "You have to be approachable, cannot be afraid to share your faith...Charlie was willing to dialogue, and he was confident that when you do that, and are authentic...you will win over a lot of hearts and minds."
Again, Charlie was not trying to convert anyone. If you happened to change your opinion after hearing him, then great. If not, then great also. It was about opening people's eyes to the issue and discussing it. Which is admirable in a world where all people do is yell, scream, and call people Nazi's for simply disagreeing with them.
Nevertheless, Charlie's death has brought about a newfound resurgence in the Conservative youth. That movement will continue because of what Charlie preached so much.
"Do not give up...keep going...and in light of how he lost his life, that would be his message," Carney says.
He adds Democrats are only enraged by the pro-life movement because the movement is winning the war.
