The GOP has made a 9th pass at funding and reopening the federal government after 15 days of shutdown; that attempt was again blocked by Senate Democrats.
They're continuing to demand that Obamacare subsidies be expanded. Republicans, meanwhile, are pushing for a clean continuing resolution.
Democrats are using the Senate filibuster to hold the government hostage, refusing to give John Thune (R-SD) the 60 votes he needs to pass a funding measure.
Republicans had originally only wanted to extend current funding for 6 weeks to give both sides time to negotiate, but with the shutdown approaching 3 weeks long, it's unclear what they'll push for moving forward.
In addition, a Clinton appointed judge in San Francisco, U.S. District Court Judge Susan Illston has blocked the Trump administration from laying off thousands of federal workers during the Schumer Shutdown, calling them "illegal and in excess of authority, and is arbitrary and capricious."
No word yet from the White House.
