The primaries to determine who will replace Gavin Newsom as the next Governor of California are already underway, and the leading Democratic candidate has begun running into some major problems in the early days of her campaign.

The issues began when she cut a CBS interview short after becoming upset by the journalist questioning her about her plans to win over Republican voters in the California open primary. After several attempts to shut down the reporter’s questions, she stormed out.

Kyle Sinclair, a GOP candidate for Texas’ 21st Congressional District, called out Porter’s behavior, saying that storming out over something so simple is highly unusual for a politician. He explained, “Part of the reporter’s job is to ask follow-up questions, and you should be prepared for that. So I don’t think there’s anything wrong with what the reporter was doing, and she [Porter] shouldn’t have ended the interview that way.”

Following the three-minute clip of Porter cutting the interview short going viral, other clips of Porter berating her staff began to circulate widely, with one clip showing her cussing out a member of her staff who appeared in the background of a video she was filming.

Reports also began circulating of Porter’s long history of angry outbursts, revealing that this pattern was common even in her marriage. Her now ex-husband claims she berated him regularly and even accused her of scalding him with boiling mashed potatoes.

Despite the massive backlash against Porter online, she still hasn’t been forced to or even called upon to drop out of the race by the Democrats. Sinclair called this out, saying, “We’ve got to ratchet down some of these behavior patterns, and it starts with small actions like this. You’ve got to hold them accountable in order to have change happen. I think the Republican leadership needs to call her out, and I think any candidate running against her needs to call her out.”
