GOP Effort To Reopen Government Blocked Again By Senate Democrats

Federal Government Shuts Down After Congress Fails To Pass Funding Bill

An effort by Republicans to reopen the government by passing a continuing resolution has once again failed.

Senate Democrats have refused to fund the government for the last eight days, demanding an extra $1.5 trillion in spending be included in the next appropriations bill.

This comes as the government shutdown has led to shortages within the FAA, with multiple airports across the country warning of possible flight delays and cancellations.

President Trump has also suggested that if the government isn't funded and reopened, he could begin permanently laying off tens of thousands of non-essential federal employees.

The proposed clean continuing resolution, which the Democrats refuse to pass, would fund the government through November 21st, which hopefully would be enough time to negotiate a more permanent spending plan.
