A woman who has been jailed in connection with the shooting deaths of two children, ages 3 and 13, and the injury of two others, is the mother of those four children, investigators revealed Sunday.
The woman, Oninda Romelus, 31, has made her first court appearance since her arrest; with her bond now set at $14-million.
Brazoria County Sheriff's deputies, at a news conference, said there are few details that can be shared because the investigation continues, and it's a complicated case.
Romelus lives in Montgomery County, according to deputies, and a home near the city of Porter has been thoroughly inspected for clues and evidence by Montgomery County authorities.
She apparently shot the children in a vehicle, the Brazoria County Sheriff said, then stopped at a gas station and called 911.
When Brazoria County deputies arrived, they tried CPR on the children, who were Life Flighted to the Houston Medical Center, but two of those children, a 3-year-old and a 13-year-old, were pronounced dead.
The other two kids, an eight-year-old boy and a nine-year-old girl, survived and are said to be in stable condition.
Bond for Romelus is set at $14 million.
