Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has announced that they will be deploying "special operations personnel" to Illinois following a direct attack on ICE personnel in Chicago.
According to reports, a DHS vehicle containing federal agents was rammed and boxed in by 10 different cars on Saturday near the Broadview ICE Detention Center.
That detention center has been a hotbed for often violent anti-ICE protests and riots, with the situation becoming so severe that President Trump has ordered the deployment of 300 National Guardsmen to the area.
One of the women allegedly involved in the ambush has been identified as Marimar Martinez. According to DHS, she was armed with a semi-automatic weapon, and the DHS agents in the ambushed vehicles were forced to fire defensive shots at her.
She had previously been named in a CBP intelligence bulletin for doxing ICE agents. Thankfully, no agents were harmed during this incident.
