A new report shows a declining number of priests in the Catholic church every year. And some have raised the question, are they the only ones?
"When we hear there's a man-power problem? Well, that's from their perspective" said Dr. Shannon Holzer, professor at Houston Christian University, "I do think there's going to be a lot of leadership opportunities, and that God is going to fill those opportunities. God will bring good men to lead his people."
According to the study, the number of young men who want to be priests has dropped since the pandemic.
"What the Catholic church needs are good men who are charismatic leaders, and they need better leaders, not more leaders" Dr. Holzer told KTRH.
It's a completely different story outside of Catholicism, as the church continues to grow and thrive.
"It's completely different with the Protestants" noted Dr. Holzer, "It's always centered around the charisma and the leadership qualities of the head pastor, so it's a lot different in Catholic church."
There is currently a nationwide revival in the church, especially in the aftermath of the tragic Charlie Kirk assassination.
