Trump seems to be changing his tone on the Russia-Ukraine war, signaling that Ukraine might be able to win the war with Russia outright. Previously, Trump had been pushing Zelenskyy to negotiate with Putin to end the war.
Trump posted to Truth Social earlier this week, saying, "With time, patience, and the financial support of Europe and, in particular, NATO, the original borders from where this war started are very much an option. Why not? Russia has been fighting aimlessly for three and a half years a war that should have taken a real military power less than a week to win."
So has Trump flipped on the issue, or is something else going on here? Former Congressman Steve Stockman said, "I believe that it's a change in negotiation by Trump to try to get Putin to come to the table. He was trying to use the carrot, and when the carrot failed, he's now using the stick."
Stockman went on to say that Trump taking a stronger position might be more effective because, "Putin is a vicious dictator, and with any dictators frankly, whether it's Xi Jinping or Putin, the thing they understand the most is power."
Stockman also says that if you expect the left to admit that they were wrong about Trump being a Russian asset now that he's taking a stronger stance against Putin, don't hold your breath, because they won't.
