Are We Headed For Another Government Shutdown?

House Plans Vote On Stopgap Funding Bill

We are fast approaching yet another funding deadline. House Republicans have passed an interim spending plan, but if it doesn't make it through the Senate by October 1st, the federal government will once again shut down.

Senate Democrats have announced that they will not support the plan unless it contains a plan to fund more healthcare for illegal aliens, a cost of around one trillion dollars.

Political strategist Vlad Davidiuk has called the Democrats out for holding the government hostage, saying, "If the government does shut down, it is due entirely to the ridiculous spending demands made by the Democrats in Congress."

Democrats, for their part, are already trying to pin this on Republicans and President Trump, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries recently telling the press that he believes Republicans are "running scared" because their budget policies are "indefensible."

Davidiuk doesn't think this attempt by the Democrats to spin the impending shutdown will work out for them, saying, "They refuse to learn the lesson that the American people are not going to be sympathetic to the left-wing narrative pushed by the Democrats in Congress."

He says this is all a result of the fact that Democrats are hellbent on denying President Trump any type of legislative victory, even if that legislative victory is simply keeping the government open to serve the American people.
