The American Dream of owning a home, raising a family, and living safely in your community has gone down the tubes the last couple decades. But no more so than the last eight to ten years. Society has changed. Democrats have radicalized young people into thinking violence is the answer and judges, who are granting low bonds to violent criminals, are continuing to defy basic public safety needs.
Now, as a result of radicalization and a lack of public service, crime has run out of control. No criminal is held accountable, they get let out with a slap on the wrist, then go out and do the same crimes again. To make it worse, because of the media, law enforcement is then demonized for doing their job. It is a ridiculous cycle that has been perpetuated by the Left and has directly made the American dream less attainable. But with any luck, it might be coming to an end.
President Trump has started a crime crackdown in cities across the United States. He started with the National Guard working with police in Washington D.C., which worked out very well. That program has been extended to Memphis and might head to places like Chicago next. If all works as it did in D.C., we might see a surge of accountability for criminals we have not seen in decades.
Justin Keener of Americans for Public Safety says we have started a trend of glorifying criminals and vilifying law enforcement, and that has been the real driving force.
"We are seeing too many rogue DA's and judges just release violent offenders into the streets...which then forces cops to re-arrest these individuals," he says.
It has been evident in every single city across the country, too. Blue cities have blue judges, who then do the very thing that has been discussed. They let out criminals, take their paycheck, and do the same thing again.
It is not just a direct violation of their oath to keep the community safe. It also hurts everyone.
"Especially in some of the urban area where you have these rogue prosecutors and judges letting these criminals out...which means your kids cannot play safely or walk to school," says Keener. "It is time to reclaim our neighborhoods and give police the ability to do their jobs."
Police have had trouble apprehending these re-released criminals because of this whole trend. Law enforcement has been vilified for the last ten years starting with the Ferguson, Missouri incident. That led to a defunding of police departments across the country, which are now woefully understaffed in having to deal with these crime issues. Additionally, to the Left, anyone who supports the police is a fascist, with no exceptions.
It is almost as if public safety has become a political stance, instead of an obligation, as it should be.
"Some on the Left treat public safety as if it is some social justice experiment...the truth is, police lower crime," Keener says.
Crime is one of the many issues weighing down the pursuit of the American dream. But if the crackdowns go to plan, we might start seeing some movement back toward achieving the dream.
