In what is being called a first for the Conroe ISD, the Board of Trustees voted to outsource it's legal representation in what is being labeled as a cost-cutting move.
"It looks like we could save a couple thousand dollars a month, around $25,000 a year which is really helpful" said Melissa Semmler, who is on the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees.
The move is being made for better efficiency, not because of any financial problems.
"There aren't really any money problems per say with the district" Semmler told KTRH, "Really, we look at how we can be the most efficient."
The vote by the board was unanimous.
"Of course we haven't done this before, and so we're going to continue to monitor it and see how it compares to what we've done in the past, but we're very hopeful that it will be a cost cutting move" noted Semmler, "It could impact the kids positively."
The law firm Conroe ISD is O’Hanion, Demerath and Castillo, and is based in Austin.
