A Texas state trooper died Monday night after crashing on FM 945 while responding to help San Jacinto County deputies. Investigators say the trooper’s car went off the road near the East Fork San Jacinto River bridge, slammed into a pine tree, and burst into flames. Fire crews rushed in but found the vehicle fully on fire, just feet from where another deadly crash happened.

TeThe trooper’s name has not yet been made public, but local leaders are already honoring his sacrifice. Montgomery County Sheriff Wesley Doolittle, a retired Texas Ranger, said he was “deeply saddened” and praised the trooper’s service, while Judge Mark Keough urged the community to keep the family and DPS in their prayers. State officials say they’ll release more details later today.
