A man is recovering in a Houston hospital after being shot west of the Galleria Friday night.
He told police he had pulled into a gas station along Westheimer at Chimney Rock about 11:30 pm, and needed to check his car.
When he got out, four people walked up and demanded his money, one of them brandishing a gun.
When the group got the money, one of them shot the victim three times before walking away.
He took bullets to the arm, leg and thigh, according to a police report.
The man was able to get back into his car and drive to the Westin Galleria hotel, where he drew the attention of an off-duty Houston Police officer.
The officer called Emergency Medical Services, who took the man to a hospital, where doctors said he's recovering from the gunshots.
Police are trying to identify the four people who robbed him, and are asking for anyone who knows anything about the shooting to please call 713-222-TIPS (8477).
