The suspected shooter in the assassination of Charlie Kirk is behind bars
"We got him," Utah Governor Spencer Cox said.
The Governor identified the suspect as Tyler Robinson, and indicated that that the 22-year old had become more political in recent years.
“Investigators interviewed a family member of Robinson who stated that Robinson had become more political in recent years,” Cox continued. “The family member referenced a recent incident in which Robinson came to dinner prior to September 10, and in that conversation with another family member, Robinson mentioned Charlie Kirk was coming to UVU. They talked about why they didn't like him and the viewpoints that he had.” Kirk was shot and killed on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Utah Valley University.
Authorities also confirmed that transgender, and other political messages where inscribed on the bullets in Tyler Robinson's rifle. One read "Hey fascists, catch."
President Trump told Fox News during an interview on Friday that the suspected shooter in the Charlie Kirk assassination has been caught.
According to the president, the suspect was turned in to authorities by his father, and a minister. The President did not release any other details, but said that that he hopes the suspect gets the death penalty if found guilty.
