The liberal bias in the legacy media is a long-documented story, but it appears to be getting more insidious. On the heels of evidence that bias is spreading to universal sources like Wikipedia and AI comes new revelations of CBS News partnering with a non-profit group on climate change stories. The group, Climate Central, claims to be "non-partisan," but has stated that the planet faces a "climate emergency that could alter life on earth for the foreseeable future," and that "marginalized groups" like "Black, Indigenous, people of color" are at "special risk" from climate change.
The connection between CBS and Climate Central appears to go even deeper, as the main reporter on a recent story about melting glaciers, Ben Tracy, has ties to both outlets. "Ben Tracy covered climate issues for CBS for years until he was laid off, and then found a job with this non-profit, and now he's running stories back on the network," says Curtis Houck, managing editor for NewsBusters. "So this essentially appears to be a case of someone else is now paying his paycheck while he reports on this topic without having to be under the moniker of CBS News."
When Fox News questioned CBS about the partnership, the network did not provide an explanation but removed the "partner" reference and Tracy's name from its story, simply referring to the content as from Climate Central. Houck says that is simply not good enough. "We need to know more about this partnership," he tells KTRH. "To simply trot this out without any sort of broad disclosure just reeks of a double standard, in which legacy media demand the utmost transparency from government and the general public, but they themselves are not subjected to those same levels of scrutiny."
