The hype for next year's midterms is already well underway. But what will be the real keys that will ultimately decide them? It depends on who you ask, but most conservatives believe it will be the same core issues that led Donald Trump and Republicans to victory in last year's elections.
"People mostly vote based on kitchen table issues" said political commentator David Brasso, "Yes, of course there's the culture war and we tend to be on one side or the other, but ultimately whether you're liberal or conservative, the way we grade our daily lives is, am I able to meet my obligations?"
Or put another way, it's the economy stupid!
"The economy I think will be the big decider, and how people will actually grade the administration" Brasso told KTRH, "And whether they choose to vote up ballot and down ballot Republican, or give the other party a shot."
Giving "the other party a shot" would fall on independent voters, who will once again be a factor in next year's midterms. The other big key for the GOP, will likely be candidate quality.
