Both the state of Illinois and the City of Chicago have been blasted in recent days by President Trump, who is vowing to bring the same law and order tactics he's used to clean up Washington, D.C., to the Windy City.

President Trump recently took to his social media platform Truth Social to call out the ongoing crime in Chicago, saying, "Six people were killed, and 24 people were shot, in Chicago last weekend, and JB Pritzker, the weak and pathetic Governor of Illinois, just said that he doesn’t need help in preventing CRIME." Members of the Trump Administration have also called out the city for its "sanctuary city" status, with Border Czar Tom Homan recently telling Fox News, "President Trump is committed that we're going to focus on and prioritize sanctuary cities because that is where the problem is."

He went on to say that we "know for a fact" that Chicago is releasing individuals who pose a threat to public safety out onto the streets, rather than just turning those people over to ICE to face deportation. He says if leaders in Chicago and Illinois don't want to do the hard work of law enforcement, the Trump Administration will.

Chicago's Mayor Brandon Johnson, however, seems to be dead set on making things as difficult as possible. He recently signed an executive order instructing the city to resist Trump. In a speech, he said, "We will use every single tool that is at our disposal." Johnson went on to say that Trump is the greatest threat to democracy in American history.
