After the tragic incident in Florida, where Harjinder Singh, an illegal alien truckdriver who killed 3 people when he decided to make a U-turn in front of a car, even more is being done here in Texas to try and get illegal truckers off the road.
"We passed legislation two years ago to enact changes that support our law enforcement community" said John Esparza, president of the Texas Trucking Association, "And doing our part in the state of Texas is key, and getting bad actors out of the trucking industry is something that absolutely needs to be rooted out."
It turns out that Harjinder Singh, received his CDL in sanctuary California, where no questions are asked about legal status. So it raises the question, do we have illegal alien truckers here in Texas?
"I think you do, but not in the amounts that are probably purported" Esparza told KTRH, "The good news is, Texas has enacted laws recently to help us in this area. But unfortunately, we're seeing a proliferation of that in other states."
Thankfully, Texas law enforcement is allowed to crack down on illegal truck drivers, and the Texas DPS is also working with Mexico to keep track of drivers. There may also be a need for even stricter laws from the Texas legislature.
