It's official. At a press conference in Austin, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick announced he is running for reelection.
Patrick was first elected as Lt. Governor of Texas in 2014, and then re-elected in 2018 and 2022.
He said back in April that he was planning to run again, but wanted to wait until after the legislative session.
The 75-year old Patrick, who was once a radio host back in the day, served two terms as a state senator from Harris County before he unseated three-term incumbent Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in 2014.
In May, President Trump named Patrick as Chairman of the Religious Liberty Commission. And recently, he has been under fire from the left for wanting to ban THC products.
