A recent report from Texas Realtors is raising major concerns about growing Chinese Communist Party influence in the State of Texas and how much of our land they own. According to the report, 8% of all foreign land sales last year were to Chinese nationals.
With so much Texas land in the hands of Chinese nationals, it could be used to threaten our military or even our agricultural industry. China expert and author Gordon Chang warned, "We know that at least since 2020, China has been sending seeds and liquids into the United States, unsolicited."
Some of these seeds and liquids are believed to be parasitic to Texas animals and agricultural products, and there have been a number of concerns raised about biological weapons being smuggled into the United States and introduced into our agriculture through this Chinese-owned farmland as well.
Thankfully, a law has been passed by the state legislature to ban land sales to China and other adversarial nations, but the work isn't quite done yet. Chang says, "Just because there's a law doesn't mean the Chinese will stop buying Texas land. They may very well start doing so surreptitiously."
Chang also pointed out that the Texas law doesn't force China to divest from the land they've already bought, meaning while the situation might not get worse, there's also no indication that it will get better.
