President Trump: "We Had A Very Productive Meeting"

After meeting for over 3 hours, President Trump and Russia's Vladimir Putin held a joint news conference, but they did not take any questions.

The two leaders emerged, with Putin kicking things off with praise for president Trump, while saying that an agreement has been reached without offering any details on what it is, saying quote:

“I would like to hope that the agreement that we’ve reached together will help us bring closer that goal and will pave the path towards peace in Ukraine.”

President Trump did not mention the agreement when he spoke, saying "there's no deal until there's a deal." Trump did say they had an extremely productive meeting, and that many points were agreed to. "We didn't get there, but we have a chance to get there."

“I will call up NATO in a little while. I will call up the various people that I think are appropriate. And I’ll, of course, call up President Volodymyr Zelensky and tell him about today’s meeting. It’s ultimately up to them,” Trump said.

At the end of their remarks Putin invited Trump to Moscow for another summit. While Trump did not close the door on meeting in Russia, he indicated a session in Moscow would be controversial. After Putin made the invitation in English, Trump responded, “That’s an interesting one, I’ll get a little heat on that one, but I could see it possibly happening.”

Both Trump and Putin then headed back home.
