Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is now targeting billionaire George Soros over possible illegal support for the state’s fugitive Democrat lawmakers.
Paxton’s office reports he’s investigating “Texas Majority Pac (TMP)” which he describes as “a radical Political Action Committee… bankrolled by billionaire George Soros, for its role in potentially unlawful financial coordination and bribery of Democratic legislators who fled Texas to break quorum.”
Democrats from the Texas Legislature have left Austin, and fled the state, in an effort to deny the legislature the needed quorum as majority Republicans seek to redraw the state’s congressional district to deliver more Republican congressional seats.
“If Texas lawmakers are bowing to the Soros Slush Fund rather than the will of the voters, Texans deserve to know. Getting financial payouts under the table to abandon your legislative duties is bribery,” Paxton declared in his statement. “Texas Majority PAC’s actions seem to indicate that it may be using its Soros-funded resources to break the law and fund the illegal abandonment of public office. If that’s the case as determined by this investigation, there will be a heavy price to pay.”
Just yesterday, Paxton announced that he is also launching a similar investigation of Powered by People, the activist group launched around former Congressman Beto O’Rourke, himself a former candidate for president, governor and the U.S. Senate.
