The runaway Texas Democrats are not the only ones getting called out. A new report from the left-leaning Austin American Statesman found that city leaders have been living large on taxpayer dollars.
"Government waste is rampant in Texas' biggest cities and counties" said James Quintero, policy director with the Texas Public Policy Foundation, "City leaders are spending big on steak dinners, fancy lunches, and big retirement parties."
It's something that has been an issue here in Houston, where Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo tried to taxpayers to pick up the tab for her 'trip' to Paris.
"Lina Hidalgo's Paris trip, which potentially could have cost taxpayers more than $20,000 was one of those rare instances where common sense won the day" Quintero told KTRH, "We're going to need legislative action to impose a local spending limit, so that we can force our cities and our counties to prioritize the needs of taxpayers, over their own wants and desires."
He believes that the best and only solution, is for lawmakers to pass into law local government spending limits and restrictions to stop this blue-city abuse.
