The former federal prosecutor who went after President Trump, twice, is now under a political corruption investigation of his own.

The New York Post reports the Justice Department is looking at former Special Counsel Jack Smith.

Smith oversaw investigations into Trump’s handling of classified documents and into his role in the January 6 2021 mayhem at the U.S. Capitol.

Now the DOJ’s Hatch Act Unit is reviewing smith. The Hatch Act restricts government employees from engaging in political activities.

Republican Senator Tom Cotton, who’s the Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee and a lawyer himself, told the Post. “Jack Smith’s actions were clearly driven to hurt President Trump’s election, and Smith should be held fully accountable.”

Smith resigned as a Special Counsel after President Trump took office.

Cotton wrote to the Justice Department, saying “Jack Smith’s legal actions were nothing more than a tool for the Biden and Harris campaigns. This isn’t just unethical, it is very likely illegal campaign activity from a public office.”
