Wrong Again: Voters Buck 'Experts' on Economy

Nearly five months after President Trump announced "liberation day" tariffs, prompting a freak out from the mainstream media and economists, it appears Americans didn't buy the hype. A new Wall Street Journal survey finds the number of Americans rating the economy as "excellent" or "good" has surged by 11 points since April. Americans' overall rating on the economy has improved from -26 points in April to just -8 today.

In other words, Americans' outlook on the economy is steadily improving even as the legacy media and its "economic experts" continue to push a drumbeat of negativity about tariffs and their impacts. Anthony Russo, political analyst and host of "The Daily Truth" podcast, calls this further proof that these so-called experts are anything but. "I did some research on mainstream economists, and their forecasts are typically predicted to be right about 53% of the time, when in actuality it's under 25%," he says. "So I don't think this is unexpected, especially when you consider that their decisions and predictions are not necessarily rooted in fact, they're rooted in politics."

Indeed, the same media talking heads crying foul over Trump tariffs gave President Biden a pass on the issue. "You've heard of Project 2025, I call this Journalism 2025---nothing is rooted in truth, nothing is rooted in fact," says Russo. "It's all speculation based on the fact they don't like the person sitting at the desk in the Oval Office, that's the issue."

"So when you look at what mainstream media economists are saying, you can't get a real picture," he continues. "Like James Carville always said, it's the economy, stupid. And when the economy is doing this well, people are going to be happy regardless of what the media tells them."
