Looking ahead to 2028, Vice President JD Vance could be a contender.
A new Emerson College poll shows Vance leading three top democrats who could be 2028 presidential candidates. The poll gives Vance a slight edge over former transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg. He’d have a bigger lead over California Governor Gavin Newsom and New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
The three Democrats have not officially said they’re running although Buttigieg did run and won the Iowa caucuses in 2020 and Newsom has been putting in appearances in key states.
Vance did get higher numbers in the poll… than President Trump. Vance received more than 43% in each comparison while 42% of the respondents to the poll reported voting for Trump in 2024.
