Despite the left-wing narrative that Trump and his administration are deeply unpopular with most Americans, the president's approval ratings seem to be holding steady, coming in at 45% overall, with approval and disapproval split primarily along party lines.

This is actually in line with where Trump usually stands, and at just six months into his term, chances are his approval will rise. Chris Johnson, president of the American Energy Leadership Institute, said that, "There's a lot of opportunity for Democrats and especially Independents to say, 'Maybe what I thought about this administration was a knee-jerk reaction, and maybe we need to give this guy a chance.'"

He says that's especially likely as the Democratic rhetoric surrounding the Big Beautiful Bill cools down and it starts to take effect. That's when Johnson says voters "see their energy bills are going down because we're doing the drill-baby-drill, when they see that there are jobs coming back to the United States, and trade deals being made."

Johnson thinks that will all lead to a spike in approval for both President Trump and the GOP as a whole and said, "The reality is, approval ratings these days, especially partisan approval ratings, are pretty static. So if we saw a 5-6 point increase in his approval rating, that would be dramatic in terms of the impact on down-ballot congressional races."
