Ozzy Osbourne Dies at 76; Had Infamous Alamo Moment in 1982

The Godfather of Heavy Metal, Ozzy Osbourne, died Tuesday at the age of 76.

”It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning," the family said in a statement. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."

Osbourne recently performed his final concert with the band in Birmingham, England. The 10-hour show on July 5 was hosted by Jason Momoa, and featured performances from Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Jack Black, Steven Tyler and more.

Osbourne had an infamous moment in Texas in the early 1980’s.

On Feb. 19, 1982, Osbourne was arrested for urinating on the Alamo Cenotaph. He was booked into jail and later released.

In February of last year, the music icon took to social media on the eve of the 42nd anniversary of his San Antonio arrest. Osbourne posted a photo on his Instagram account when he was released from custody hours after his arrest.

Osbourne was banned from performing for 10 years in the Alamo City.

Osbourne later apologized for the incident and was allowed to return to the Alamo in November 2015, when he appeared along with his son for a tour of the Texas landmark as part of filming for the History Channel.
