Recovery efforts continue across the Texas Hill Country, with as many as 150 people still missing following the devastating July 4th floods. President Trump and First Lady Melania are both set to survey the damage in person today. Those on the ground say they’ll be in for a shocking view.
Kyle Sinclair, the Bexar County GOP Co-Chair, has been on the ground assisting with recovery efforts in the Texas Hill Country, and he described the somber scene, saying, "There's nothing like seeing trees, 30 feet up, still having debris up there. Just the sheer force of the mud, the roots, the branches."
Sinclair thinks it's important for the President to take the time to come visit the scene in person. He said, "There's something significantly different about being on the ground and seeing the realness of it up close. The power of the flood and the devastation it caused."
He added that this will also be a major morale booster to those who have been on the ground, working tirelessly since July 4th. He said, "There's power behind leaders coming to visit and understand. I appreciate Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem coming in and showing support."
Sinclair also added that it was good for Trump to wait a few days before visiting, noting the increased security and media presence that will undoubtedly accompany him.
